Light Galleries information

Our Lamp Shades come in the following styles:

Lipped Glass Light Shades needing a Light Gallery These are available in the following sizes:

2″ rim using a 2¼” light gallery
3″ rim using a 3¼” light gallery
4″ rim using a 4¼” light gallery
4 ¾” rim using a 5″ light gallery
6″ rim using a 6¼” light gallery

Non-Lipped Glass Light Shades These are available in the following sizes:

Edison Screw fits directly onto an ES lampholder
Bayonet Cap fits directly onto a BC lampholder

If you have a shade with a 10mm hole or no rim we have light galleries for those too.

Table Lamp Shade Carriers information

Our Table Lamp Shade Carriers come in 2 sizes and can fit Bayonet Cap (BC) or Edison Screw (ES) Lampholders.

4¼” this fits glass shades around 6″ high with a 10-25mm hole in the top
6″ this fits glass shades around 8″ high with a 10-25mm hole in the top

Hanging Lampshades with a BC or ES hole

For Lamp shades weighing less than 2 kg you can use a cord grip lampholder with shade rings to hang your shade.
Then choose between a Bayonet Cap version with shade rings for a shade with a 32mm – 35mm hole; or an Edison screw version with shade rings for a shade with a 38mm – 45mm aperture. Next you need a ceiling rose with a cord grip and some earthed 3 core flex which will go between the lamp holder and the ceiling rose.

For shades over 2kg you need to support the flex by using some lighting chain and therefore need a lampholder with a hook and shade rings to hang your light shade. Then choose between a Bayonet Cap version with shade rings for a shade with a 32mm -35mm hole or an Edison screw version with shade rings for a shade with a 38mm – 45mm aperture. Next you need a ceiling rose with a hook and again some earthed 3 core flex which goes between the lampholder and the ceiling hook. The chain you need is our large link chain. This is sold in max of 10m single length. If your drop is more than that, lengths of chain can be joined using an S hook. Max shade weight is 5kg using a single hook. How do I hang a shade with a 10mm hole?

Use one of our 10mm galleries as shown below. The central brass all thread undoes and goes through the 10mm hole in your shade then re attach the cord grip to secure the shade. You then choose the flex you want to hang down to your cord grip lampholder and up through the hole in the hook via some lamp chain to your ceiling hook.

What are your products weight tolerances?

For Lamp shades weighing less than 2 kg you can use a cord grip lampholder to hang your shade as this is the weight tolerance of the lighting flex.

Our Single Ceiling Hooks can hang, using a piece of our large chain, a light fitting up to max of 5kg. If you had 2 hooks & large chain you could hang 10kg and with one of our large triple hooks and large chain up to a maximum of 15kg. Obviously the fixing into the ceiling needs to be secure, you can add one of our wooden pattresses which can be secured using larger screws. If you fix this into a ceiling joist this can also add extra hold but you will need to consult a builder or electrician if hanging a heavy light fitting to keep you safe.

Our smaller chain is only suitable for hanging a ceiling bowl from our Triple bag ceiling hook as the chain link size is too small to fit over our larger hooks. The maximum weight of the shade should be 5kg as this is the weight tolerance of the triple ceiling hook.
